Walking down the road
to a fantasy world
where the whole world
treats you like its own -
a genuine "hi" here
a chirpy "hello" there
a cheerful chatter
in the day's platter;
an honest compliment,
a humble request,
a beautiful surprise,
a sanguine mood,
plunging you into
the bounty of euphoria;
still settling down
with happiness abound -
Suddenly, the bubble
bursts into a rubble
pushing you into the abyss
from the whimsical bliss
to find yourself resting
in a weightless cradle
and then, looking around,
burning the eyes
is a scintillating sheen,
devoid of any soul,
leaving you confounded-
the image of a crowd
fast fading away,
just to discover
that the "you" is just
an insignificant no one..
It is funny but I think that everyone is significant in ways that we may never truly understand. I do know what you mean about feeling insignificant at times but that is just how we personally feel. But there is a reason that we are here. We may never truly know it or understand it, but there is one. One day you may just give someone a big smile and you will save that person's life. You may not know you did but that person does. Really a thoughtful poem that you have written.
